Red Magic, published in 1930, is the last book illustrated by Kay Nielsen. The illustrations consist of 58 paintings and drawings, nine in full color. Of the 58 illustrations, eighteen of Nielsen's illustration accompany the story of Aladdin. Adaddin is part of the Arabian Nights, or The Thousand and One Nights, wherein Scheherazade tells the Sultan a tale each night.
